23rd Jan IPO review
14 new players get introduced to the index in today's IPO. In this post we review the current form, stats & future prospects of all players and recommend which players are more likely to be a success on the index
Mateo Pavlovic - IPO price £0.60
This 28 year old Angers central defender has been playing regularly this season with 15 league appearances with a whoscored rating of 6.87. His recent form is better, he has started 8 of the last 9 games during which he has 2 goals, an assist, 4 clean sheets and an average of 7.11. No transfer speculation. A decent purchase if you can get him for close to the IPO price.
Jayden Bogle - IPO price £0.90
This 18 year old Derby right back has been showing great maturity and earning praise from boss Frank Lampard. He has clocked up 23 league performances already this season with a whoscored rating of 6.73. Recently attracted interest from Burnley and an £8m move is on the cards, Lampard has suggested that he is willing to the him go should the fee be right so this one could happen. As he is young and English think this would be a good investment whether he goes or remains at Derby.
Tono - IPO price £0.80
This 29 year old Levante left wingback has been playing regular football with 13 starts in the last 14 games with a rating of 6.71, he has 2 goals and 2 assists in those games too. He has been put down as a defender but has spent most of his time in left midfield or wingback which has a clear benefit however Levante have shipped 35 goals in 20 games(the 3rd worst in the league). Better options exist.
Dimitry Bertaud - IPO price £0.60
This 20 year goalkeeper made his debut for Montpellier last weekend and kept a clean sheet. Montpellier's first choice goalkeeper was out with a rib injury but is one of the best in the league so surely Dimitry won't keep his place for long. He has some pedigree with France caps at youth level but better young goalkeeper options are out there such as £0.71 for 21 year old Alex Meret who is now fit again and started the last 4 league games for Napoli.
Lionel Carole - IPO price £0.70
This 27 year old left back was a regular at the start of the season but only started 1 of the last 9 games, he came on as a sub in the last game but with Strasbourg winning 3 games on the trot its doubtful whether he can force his way back into the starting lineup. Strasbourg have also only kept 3 clean sheets all season and he only has one assist to show for his 14 games so doubtful that he will be in PB contention. Better options exist.
Kevin Kohi - IPO price £0.70
This 22 year old left winger/forward has featured fairly regular(15 games) for Strasbourg this season but mostly from the bench, he's also been subbed fairly early in his 5 starts and didn't feature at all in their last 2 games. His rating is only 6.45 and he only has 1 goal, 1 assist an no transfer speculation so i'd look elsewhere.
Junior Sambia - IPO price £0.70
This 22 year old Montpellier midfielder has played 19 times so far this season but only started 5 games and has a fairly low rating of 6.44, he only has 1 assist too. Better options
William Bianda - IPO price £1.20
Despite only playing 5 French 2nd tier games in an injury hit last season at Lens this 18 year old central defender attracted interest from several top European clubs and was signed by Roma for £5m + £5m in bonuses in the summer. Since then he has failed to feature for Roma's first team and hadn't featured in the reserves since mid November due to injury until playing 45 minutes last week. He has some pedigree having played 23 times for France at youth level but it's questionable as to whether he will make the step up to the first team this season. Might be one to monitor for the long term.
Erling Braut Haland - IPO price £1.80
This 6ft 3in 18 year old Norwegian forward is the son of ex Leeds, Forest & Man City player Alf-Inge and has already played a full season for Molde in 2018 with 12 goals in 25 games(10 + 4 assists in his last 13). He just signed for Salzburg at the start of Jan so no chance of transfer speculation or PB dividends in the league but Salzburg have been one of the standout teams in the Europa league so some PB hope in that competition. Man United were scouting him whilst he(and Ole Gunnar) were still at Molde and if he plays well maybe that is an option in the long term. Looks a real prospect for the long term and may be worth some small investment but at this IPO starting price coupled with the inevitable early price rise doesn't seem great value in the short term.
Francisco Trincao - IPO price £1.50
This 19 year old Braga forward who plays mainly wide or as a 2nd striker for the Braga B team(where he has 1 assist from 7 games) but has made the first team squad in 3 of the last 4 games (he only made the pitch once for 4 minutes however). He has been scouted by Arsenal twice recently and is rumoured that they may swoop this window, Juventus, Wolves & Inter have also been linked. Finished joint top goalscorer in the Under 19 Euro's in the Summer. Good prospect and could become a great investment if he makes a move this month. Recommend that you review the transfer rumours before making a call.
Joao Filipe - IPO price £1.90
This 19 year old Benfica winger like Trincao was also joint top scorer at the u19 Euros this summer, he has 5 goals & 7 assists for the benfica B team this season. He has also appeared as a sub for the first team in the cup. Looks a bright prospect and his reserve league form is better than Trincao but Trincao is closer to the first team and also has more transfer prospects. Trincao looks a better option especially at a slightly lower price.
Elvis Rexhbecaj - IPO price £1.00
This 21 year old midfielder has played 12 times for Wolfsburg all in their last 14 games, 5 of these have been as a sub and he has only played the full 90 mins once however, his rating is only 6.55. He scored his first goal last week and also has an assist and clean sheet in his last 3 starts but these are spread over 7 games. Not the worst buy at £1 or close to it but wouldn't pay much more than £1.20, If you are looking for a young centre midfielder in the Bundesliga Maximilian Eggestein at £1.37 has played every minute this season and scored 4 times.
Stefan Mitrovic - IPO price £0.80
This 28 year old central defender is the captain and has been played every minute when eligible this season, his rating is not very good at 6.49 though. He missed 2 games due to suspension due to a red card earlier in the season and also got sent off in their last game vs. Monaco, at present he will miss just the midweek cup game but the French league will decide later today whether to extend that which looks likely due to the fact he already had a yellow before the straight red and his previous bad record. Can't recommend whether he gets off today or not.
Nicolas Cozza - IPO price £0.70
This 20 year old Left/central defender has played the full 90 mins in all 6 of his appearances this season with a good rating of 7.01 whilst keeping 2 clean sheets, he has been on the bench for the last 4 though. He played 9 games last season too so has 15 league games behind him and looks a prospect with 15 youth caps for France. Worth an investment at £1 or less.
A fairly weak IPO list and Football Index seem to have raised the IPO value which make some of these less viable than options already out there. The pick is probably Jayden Bogle with Trincao, Cozza & Pavlovic good investments if their price doesn't rise too much. Consider Joao Filipe, Bianda & Haland if price doesn't rise too much and you are prepared to wait for long term benefits.
