January transfer rumours

With the January transfer window set to open we take a look at some of the potential moves and weigh up their potential Football Index impact

Christian Pulisic - Current price £4.87 - Heavily linked with a move the the Premier league before but the 20 Year old American has 18 months left on his Dortmund contract and has been rotated along with the emerging Jadon Sancho & Jacob Bruun Larsen so this seems the right window for Dortmund to cash in. Rumours on the 30th Dec that he had all but agreed to a £50m Chelsea move but then a 31st Dec rumour that Liverpool were in pole position, a prolonged battle between clubs could see his value rise further(already up £0.25 in the last week). Expect him to be one of the first high profile transfers of the window and he has all the attributes to be a success in the Premier league. If he signs for Chelsea we would expect that he goes straight into the first team whereas he would probably be used more for squad rotation at Liverpool.

Tanguy NDombele - Current price £3.05 - The 22 year old defensive midfielder has been a revelation so far this season for Lyon and attracted the interest from Man City recently who have apparently had a £45m bid rejected as Lyon hold out for more like £60-70m. He has also attracted interest from Chelsea but surely they do not need another center Midfielder! Seems a little over priced for someone who has arguably been the third best midfielder for Lyon behind Houssem Aouar & Lucas Tousart(who are both younger), doubts as to whether City will go back in for him and even if they do expect him to play 2nd fiddle to Fernandinho for at least another year.

Eder Militao - Current Price £2.06 - The 20 year old Brazilian defender has attracted interest from Liverpool, Man United, Real & Chelsea but most notable interest seems to be from Man United. It's looking more likely that he will move in January as Porto have failed in an attempt to increase his release clause(£45m to £68m) via a new deal. He is having a great season with an average whoscored rating of 7.42 in the league for Porto & 7.02 in the Champions league, although Porto use him primarily as a centre back he played Right back for Sao Paulo so offers some positional flexibility too. He made his Brazil debut recently too so a lot of upside and could surely improve that Man United defence even at his young age.

Kai Havertz - Currently priced £4.11 - The 19 year old German wonderkid appeared on our Young Europa league prospects in early December and has continued to improve. The central midfielder has contributed to 9 Bundesliga goals(6 goals & 3 assists) in 17 games this season and 31(13 goals & 18 assists) in 71 overall which is very impressive for someone with 6 months left as a teenager. He has also got 2 full international caps and been one of the stars of the Europe league this season with 3 goals & 3 assists in just 4 games(3 starts). He has recently been linked with a £60m January move to either Man City or Real but Bayern have also expressed interest, surely mid table Leverkusen can't keep hold of this wonderkid for much longer?

Frenkie de Jong - Current Price £4.15 - The 21 year old Ajax startlet is wanted by the likes of Barcelona, PSG & Manchester City. It had seemed more likely that he will move to Barcelona in the summer but with Barca reluctant to pay the £60-70m price tag talks with Ajax have stalled. Barca also look to be close to signing Adrien Rabiot either on a free at the end of his contract or a cut price deal this January which could open the door for PSG & City to fight it out for his signature this January.
